Programs

Grandview offers a variety of programs for skaters of all ages and ability levels.

We have programs for new skaters – for experienced hockey players and even adults wanting to fine tune their skills.   Our programs provide participants with basic skating skills, advanced figure skating techniques, test and competitive opportunities, awards and incentives and the chance to learn new skills in a fun and positive environment.

Here is our policy again regarding bringing your own helmet and skates.  Rentals are no longer available.

She/he really likes skating and wants to continue.  What are the options?  There are a number of possibilities.  The important first step is to know and understand the options and pick the one that best suits both your child and you.

  • Talk to your CanSkate coach – he/she is in the best position to assess your child’s skill and interest level and make suggestions.
  • Talk to your child and decide what you are able to commit to, both in time and finances.
  • Find out from your skating club what programs are offered, as well as time, location, cost and type of equipment needed.
  • Know that your child does not have to complete the CanSkate program before moving on to other programs!

Participant Development Model

The model below illustrates the two streams of programming offered by Skate Canada. Skaters may participate in either stream from one season to the next.
