Julie Zhu

STARSKATE Coach

Professional Qualifications:
Skate Canada Regional Level 1 Certified Provincial Level 2 In-Training

Grandview has always been my home. I first learned to skate at my local community centre. Then, in 4th grade, my family and I joined Grandview Skating Club and started training competitively. After six years, I moved to Champs International, one of Canada’s prominent figure skating training centres, to grow further as a competitive skater. After a year, I seamlessly transitioned into a Canskate and competitive coach. For the first nine years of my career, I was privileged to work with and under the high-performance coaches at Champs. Returning to Grandview and giving some of my time back at Grandview feels great, and I am happy to share everything I have learned so far through my experiences.

I love working with kids. My favourite part is finding the skating strengths and best personality traits in every one of the skaters with whom I get to work. I am also pursuing a Bachelor’s & Masters in Education to continue my journey as an educator.

“I aim to have skaters grow their joy of skating, see value in a hardworking attitude, and develop good habits they can carry into adulthood.”
