Skating Career and Transition to Coaching
After years of skating and competing, I transitioned into coaching. With over 35 years of coaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with skaters of all levels. Whether they were competitive athletes aiming for the podium or recreational skaters looking for fun and fitness, I’ve enjoyed coaching a diverse range of students. My ability to connect with skaters of all ages, from tots to adults, showcases my versatility and deep understanding of the sport.
International Coaching Experience
My expertise and reputation have taken me beyond Canadian borders. I’ve had the opportunity to be a guest coach and off-ice instructor at Northern European camps, sharing my knowledge and skills with an international audience. Teaching at international skating camps in Europe during the summertime has been particularly rewarding. These experiences have allowed me to contribute to the global skating community, fostering talent and inspiring skaters worldwide.
Coaching Philosophy and Impact
My coaching philosophy is rooted in my love for the sport and my commitment to my students. I believe in nurturing each skater’s potential, emphasizing the importance of discipline, perseverance, and joy in skating. My students not only improve their technical skills but also develop confidence and a lifelong appreciation for the sport.
Legacy and Future Aspirations
With a career spanning over five decades, my legacy in the skating world is profound. My contributions as a coach have left an indelible mark on the lives of countless skaters. Looking forward, I aim to continue sharing my passion and expertise, inspiring the next generation of skaters to achieve their dreams on the ice.
