Skating has always been my “fun” sport. You would never have to drag me out of bed for 6 a.m. practices! I loved being on the ice and helping others. I started helping out with Canskate and eventually moved into coaching for the municipal learn-to-skate program. 

Through school, I started volunteering for Special Olympics and eventually joined the Special Olympics figure skating program! I have had the honour to coach our skaters, from taking their first steps on the ice to competing at regional, provincial and national competitions! I am so grateful to have the opportunity to help skaters succeed and share in the joy of skating!

• On-ice lead coach for the Special Olympics Skate Skills program at Grandview

Maegan can be found at the rink on Sunday nights for the Special Olympics program and various other days supporting Special Olympic athletes.
