Note: Due to COVID-19 health protocols, skaters enrolled in Canskate must be able to skate or walk forward and get up on their own when they fall.

CanPowerSkate is geared to skaters aged approximately six or older who already have basic forward and backward skating skills (they must be able to skate the length of the rink using alternate strides) and are able to stop on command without use of the boards (full hockey stop).
Full hockey equipment is required. Hockey sticks will sometimes be used, but no shooting or passing of pucks.

*Fees do not include the annual $43.65 non-refundable Skate Canada Fee for new registrants.

STAR 1
The STAR 1 program is a bridge between CANSkate and the STARSkate program. STAR 1 skaters will work in smaller groups with a professional coach and learn figure skating skills such as jumps, edges, spirals, spins, turns and ice dances.
Classes include off-ice training to develop cardio fitness, flexibility, strength, control and reduce the risk of injury on the ice. Entry to this program is by invitation only through the CANSkate program or scheduled assessments. Please email gsc.coachdirector@gmail.com if you are interested.

We’ve done our best to secure as much time as possible, but the schedule below is a bit complicated. Please make note of the session locations and age priority. Read the notes at the bottom for more clarification.
Star 2 – 4 (Junior)
To align with Skate Canada’s STAR program, STAR 2 skaters will be placed in a group of 3-4 and will be coached for the entire 45-minute session. In addition, every 3rd week, the skater will receive a 15-minute private lesson. STAR 3 and 4 skaters will work in semi-private sessions (groups of 2).
